Linda Gatter, the principal of Gatter Architects, is an award-winning designer with extensive experience in residential, commercial, and institutional projects.
She received her Master’s degree in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1982. A registered architect since 1985, she has served on the design faculties at Columbia University and the University of Massachusetts.
Ms. Gatter’s work has been exhibited at the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, New York, the Storefront for Art and Architecture, and the Buell Center for the Study of American Architecture in New York City. Her design for affordable housing for the East End of Long Island won a Beaux Arch Citation for excellence in 1986 and her 2005 adaptation of an existing service station into a restaurant was awarded a Columbia County Heritage Award in 2011.
Ms. Gatter’s more recent practice has focused on affordable residential design in Columbia County, New York and the Lakes District in New Hampshire, as well as adaptive reuse of older buildings.
She is a strong believer in the importance of site and program, and has enjoyed working with a diverse range of clients, helping them create living and working spaces that are beautiful as well as fostering a sense of well-being.
